Prestwich Clough Centenary group organise the hugely popular annual Prestwich Clough Day.
Prestwich Clough & Clough Day History
In 1906 Mr Gardner, a local developer - purchased an area of land for the residents of Prestwich called Prestwich Clough. This was added to over the years and became the start of the area known as Prestwich Forest Park.
In 2005 it was suggested that a one off event be organised to celebrate the Centenary of the Clough being handed over to the public and in 2006 we held Prestwich Clough Day. Over 1000 people attended and it proved to be a great community experience. In fact it was such a success that the organisers decided to repeat the event the following year and it has continued ever since. Perhaps the secret of the "Clough Day", as everyone now calls it, is it's quirkiness, which is partially a result of the diversity of the interests of the Committee members.
The Event can only be described as what happens when Village Fete meets Country Fair. But we feel that it is this eccentricity that leads to the events success not only with the local community but also with the Groups, Bands and Artists who participate in making the whole afternoon a roaring success.
