Mental Health Framework – Thriving in Bury

The Thriving in Bury mental health framework was developed in 2020, by Bury partners. It is an all-age strategic framework for the development of a mental health and wellbeing offer for all people living in Bury.

The framework underpins the principles of the Bury Let’s Do It strategy; local, enterprise, together and strengths based.

The framework has been developed into a Thriving in Bury brand to support the delivery of a borough wide mental health and wellbeing campaign, aimed at helping Bury people lead healthier, happier lives. The Thriving in Bury brand guidelines are available in the downloads links on this page and partners are encouraged to use the branding alongside their own to strengthen the identity of the framework.

The strapline is ‘Thriving in Bury for better mental wellbeing’.

Who is the strategy for?

Thriving in Bury is an all age framework. It outlines the vision for planning and delivering effective services which will achieve successful outcomes for all people in Bury, from common conditions such as depression and anxiety, to complex conditions such as bi-polar and schizophrenia.

Partnership Project Groups

The framework is split into 4 areas, each one has an established partnership group that is focused on the tasks needed to deliver the aims below;

  • Coping & Thriving; people are motivated to stay well and in control of their own wellbeing. People are able to access a range of opportunities which help them to stay well.
  • Getting Help; people are offered short term, goal focused interventions which help them to manage their wellbeing. Those in at risk groups are supported and escalation of mental ill health is prevented.
  • Getting More Help; people are supported to recover from mental ill health using a focused treatment package.
  • Risk & Crisis; all people have access to timely crisis management support 24/7. People who have been ill are supported to live well with a risk management and crisis plan
