As you will likely have heard the government has announced measures to protect the vulnerable and reduce the spread of coronavirus. For us at Healthwatch Bury this means we are all now working from home and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. We do have access to emails, the website, and social media. Our office phone line has also been diverted to us at home (9.30am - 3pm). Should anyone wish to leave comments at this time do get in touch with us through the digital channels mentioned.
In the immediate term our work will be to help support our local community and volunteer partners, as well as Local Authority and NHS colleagues. We will continue to update our website as information changes. Over the coming days we will discuss how other ways of speaking to the public, as is our mandate, can continue or our efforts can best be used.
Bury Healthwatch Roadshow
The Healthwatch Bury team is trying to find different ways of engagement during these challenging times.
In particular we want to make sure that unpaid carers have access to the support they need to carry out their caring role as effectively as possible. Equally we want to ensure that people with disabilities can access the support that allows them to live as independently as possible.
Consequently we have set up the Bury Healthwatch Roadshow. It is a virtual roadshow accessible for anyone with internet access. The Roadshow concept has received national acclaim and was developed by and for carers by Trevor Clower who set up the virtual carers roadshow in Nottingham. Please see the link below for further information: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1nu0OnmOqiMdXeWSRXQPRiFizjSEOtiD
The roadshow is still in early stages in Bury and we are hoping to get as many local groups involved as possible. We would be most grateful if you could support this by producing a short video about your service that explains the following:
- who you are
- what you do
- how your group supports the local population (carers and people with disabilities in particular)
- your contact details or how to get referred to your service
Making a video with your smartphone is really simple, please see the tutorials from Trevor below:
If you have any questions about how to make a video or would like a tripod you could use please get in touch with me via email or telephone and I will do my best to talk you through the process.
Please SEND the videos over to Annemari.email@example.com by using the WeTransfer website: https://wetransfer.com/ WeTransfer is free and easy to use. I will notify you and SEND you the link for the video as soon as it has been uploaded.
Alternatively you might already have a video about your service that you’re happy for us to use and promote via this roadshow.
