This service provides a comprehensive Mental Health Service to adult deaf people.

The unit is one of three NHS providers offering inpatient services for deaf adults in the UK.

The service is predominantly provided to people who use British Sign Language (BSL) and also supports other deaf, deafened and deaf/blind individuals.

JDU provides services to people who are deaf and have a severe and enduring mental illness and also undertake comprehensive assessments including communication and language, neuropsychology and psychometric and a range of other therapies.
