My name is Jennifer Wooldridge, and my business is named Mama’s Den Childminding.
I am based in Bury, Lancashire and I have been a registered childminder since September 2011 and I love my job. Caring for children and watching them grow and develop is what I was ment to do. I am a fully registered OFSTED approved childminder (Ey434301)
I am a very outgoing person who considers myself to be very approachable and trust worthy and I most importantly love working with children. I like to remain positive at all times and am an accredited Hygge in the early years setting. I have a natural feel to my setting with lots of loose part and exploratory play.
My Setting
A work from my home in Bury in my large victorian property directly opposite open park, countryside and woodland. I have a secure and enclosed rear yard with patio area for safe outdoor playspace including veg planter, mud kitchen and nature area. I have lots of resources and pride myself on the large selection of ethically sourced wooden toys aswell as many loose part play pieces. I allow children to explore and play and facilitate learning in a safe and nurturing environment, I plan activities inline with the children’s interests and stage of development. We also have an allotment.
My Experience
I became a registered childminder in 2011 and since then I have had the privilege of working with lots of children in line with my registration and had have watched them grow and develop within my care. Play is the most important way a child can learn, and I thrive on helping children reach their full potential by implementing areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage programme into my daily routine.
I have worked hard to create a fun and creative early years curriculum whilst retaining a home from home feel. So the children can relax with books if they choice to but equally my play space is fully stocked with high quality resources which encourage imaginative, open ended play. I have extensive training including using play to encourage the development of children and I use this daily to create highly rewarding activities which are fun and engaging for the children. Being hygge accredited means we create a scandanavian feel with activities focused of well being, nature and cosiness.
I teach the children in my care real life experiences. We visit the post office, local stores, parks, clubs, library, and complete everyday activities. I like to show the children how the world works. I try to walk to local toddler groups and clubs where possible with the children so will talk to them about road safety and about traffic, animals, trees or whatever might take the child’s interests. I have a theme of the week and look to world events and national holidays to promote a knowledge of other cultures.
Most importantly I try and offer a home from home for your child.
