About me
Hi to all, My name is Jennifer and my business is named Mama’s Den Childminding. I am based in Bury (Walmersley Road area) and I have been a registered childminder since September 2011.
I am a fully registered ofsted approved childminder who was graded OUTSTANDING in September 2025. I offer a rich and varied early years curriculum to all my early years children. I am hygge in the early years accredited and hold level 3 early years senco qualification. My setting has very natural feel.
My Setting
My setting is my home, a large victorian property overlooking fields with a lovely front garden and enclosed back yard. I have lots of resources and pride myself on the large selection of wooden and educational toys. I plan activities inline with the children’s interests and stage of development. We have our own curriculum which is scaffolded by the EYFS. We are very outdoorsy.
Children are highly likely to come home covered in mud and a smile on there face. We have our own allotment and the children enjoy spending lots of time outdoors and learning about growing their own food.
My Experience
I became a registered childminder in 2011 and since then I have had the privilege of working with many children and their families, watching them grow and develop within my care. Play is the most important way a child can develop and I thrive on helping children reach their full potential by implementing areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage programme into my daily routine.
I have worked hard to create a fun and creative early years setting whilst retaining a home from home feel. The children can relax with books if they choose to but equally my play space is fully stocked with high quality resources which encourage imaginative and open ended play.
I have extensive training including using play to encourage the development of children and I use this daily to create highly rewarding activities which are fun and engaging for the children. I teach the children in my care real life experiences.
We visit the post office, local stores, parks, clubs, library, and complete everyday activities. I like to show the children how the world works and they also have the companionship of my 2 sausage dogs, cats and help to feed our fish.
We attend toddler group and clubs where possible so will talk about road safety, animals, trees or whatever might take the child's interests. I follow seasonal themes and look to world events and national holidays to promote a knowledge of other cultures and diversity in my home.
