Irwell Valley's Queensberry Place is an innovative, purpose built supported housing scheme for young adults with a physical and / or a sensory disability or Learning Disability. The scheme provides adapted accommodation with housing related support so that people can develop their skills in order to prepare to move on into independent accommodation and be able to maintain their tenancy whilst managing a disability. The scheme provides eight spacious 2 bedroom apartments that are specially adapted. Each apartment has its own kitchen and bathroom and all contain modern, accessible facilities.

Who can live there?

  •  Single men and women aged 18 years and upwards.
  • Have been assessed as having a physical or sensory disability or Learning Disability.
  • Have been assessed as having basic daily living skills that can be developed during their stay and to move on to their own accommodation and greater independence within two years.
  • Have been assessed as being able and willing to actively engage in support and work with the project team to plan their 'move on'.
  • Have agreed a package of care to meet any physical, personal or domestic care needs.

 What is an Assessment?

Following completion/submission of an application form and assuming the applicant meets the criteria for the service Queensberry Place staff will progress the application to a support needs Assessment. This will generally take place in the applicant's current home. The Assessment is an opportunity for staff to further examine the needs of the applicant and assess if they can be met by the service. An assessment of care needs can be requested and carried out by Social Services.

How much does it cost?

There is a weekly rent and service charge, for the maintenance of the building and grounds. Care costs will be in addition.

Can I get help with the cost?

If you are eligible we will assist you to complete an application for housing/council tax benefit. Care costs will be met by Direct Payments or a personal budget (please see link on the right for more information about Personal Budgets).

How to get in touch?

You can contact the office at Queensberry Place Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0161 761 7308. Staff will be happy to discuss your needs initially over the phone and will encourage you to visit the service.
