Walking and Cycling Activation
Bury FC in partnership with Transport For greater Manchester (TFGM) would like to hear from you...
Activation is working with those who live, work, study or visit an area to help identify, and break down barriers they face towards choosing to travel by active modes. The aim is to make walking, cycling, or wheeling a viable choice for people, and to empower people so that they feel able to change their behaviours.
Recent Activation Projects

supporting residents
Signposting residents
We have recently produced Correx Boards that signpost individuals to helpful walking, cycling and mental health support.
The designs are starting to be put up across the borough.
If you have any ideas for where to place these boards or would like some for your business, work, or environment setting, please get in touch!

improvements
Path Network Improvements
We recently supported 'Friends of Outwood Country Park' with funds to help improve their path network within the park to make walking, wheeling, and cycling more accessible, especially given the Cycling Network Route 6 goes through the park

AWARENESS RAISING
Work with Schools
Recent work with Ribble Drive Primary School to help tackle idling cars on the school lane. Each year group created a leaflet with a powerful image on the front and useful Walking, Wheeling, and Cycling information on the back.
If your school has similar issues, please get in touch!

bicycle repairs
Bury Bike Hospital
The 'Bury Bike Hospital' has recently opened in Clarence Park. Bury residents can get their bike fixed, maintained, and serviced for FREE! This was made possible through local activation funds.
Upcoming Activity...

Bury Walking & Cycling Forum
Bury’s walking and cycling forum offers a range of stakeholders a chance to get together formally, to share thoughts and ideas and to promote local opportunities for cycling and walking.
Everyone’s welcome at these meetings; you don’t have to be an expert or a regular walker / cyclist. Whether you want to join in or just listen, feel free to come along.
The forum offer a space to learn about walking and cycling developments in Bury. The forum offers Bury’s communities a chance to feed into proposed development work but also to help shape walking and cycling initiatives effected by inequalities.
