Warm Spaces Bury
Your guide to warm community spaces in and around the Bury borough.
‘Warm Spaces’ are established in the heart of local communities where people can be assured of finding a safe, warm, inclusive, and friendly environment in which to enjoy refreshments, social activity, information and advice, the company of other people and stay healthy and well.
People can come along on their own, or with a friend, and talk to others over a hot drink or maybe a hot meal.
Places promise a warm welcome to anyone ‘just managing; with the cost-of-living crisis, struggling to heat their home, or unable to pay their energy bills without compromising on other essentials, such as food, rent or hygiene this winter.
The initiative forms part of a wider package of measures from Bury Council to help residents with the cost-of-living crisis, and to keep well during the winter months.
If you are a voluntary, community or social enterprise organisation interested in becoming a warm space and need support with how to set up, help with your policies or any training to help you deliver your service, please contact Bury VCFA via admin@buryvcfa.org.uk

How it works
Take A Seat Campaign
Participating outlets are given a guide about how to make their premises more age friendly. They are invited to display the Age Friendly ‘flower’ logo on the their window.
If you see the logo you will know there is a chair available inside, a warm space, so that you can sit and rest. You may be offered a glass of water and, if accessible, be allowed to use the toilet facilities.
