Finding the right childcare is important for your child’s development and your family’s needs. Bury offers a variety of childcare options including:

  • Day Nurseries: Registered nurseries provide full-day or part-time care for children from birth to five years old, however some only cater for children over 2 years.
  • School Nurseries: This is nursery provision on a school site, they are attended by children aged 3 to 5 years old. However, some school nurseries take children aged 2 years.
  • Pre-schools: A pre-school is an educational setting that provides early childhood education for children, typically aged 2 to 4 years
  • Childminders: Childminders care for small groups of children in a home setting, offering flexible hours and a family-like environment. All childminders in Bury are registered and inspected for quality and safety.
  • After-School Clubs: These clubs provide fun, safe activities for school-aged children outside school hours, including homework help, sports, and creative play.
  • Holiday Clubs: Available during school holidays, these clubs offer engaging activities to keep children active and entertained.

If your child is attending a Day Nursery, School Nursery, Pre-school or Childminder

You may be able to get funded childcare as below:

  • Working parents can access 30 hours of funded for their children from 9 months – 4 years
  • Working parents can access Tax Free childcare. You can use it to pay for childminders, nurseries, after school clubs and play schemes. You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 15 or 30 hours funded childcare if you’re eligible for both and can be used for children aged 0-11 years.

If you are not a working parent, you may be eligible for the following;

  • Families that are in receipt of additional support can access 15 hours of funded childcare for children aged 2 years
  • All families can access 15 hours of funded childcare for children aged 3-4 years
