Identify and complete appropriate assessments to establish a greater understanding of the young person’s needs, for example:
· The Strengths and Difficulties. Questionnaire (SDQ);
· Blob Tree.
Offer small group support to develop skills related to emotional regulation and emotional literacy e.g. recognising and labelling emotions, self-calming techniques and using Zones of Regulation or Lego Therapy.
Use appropriate emotional awareness and regulation workbooks or programmes within individual or a small group, such as:
· Starving the Depression Gremlin.
Anxiety groups.
Self-awareness sessions - Identity and self-understanding.
Talkabout – teenagers & social skills.
Working With Young Men - boys at risk of anti-social behaviour -depends on individual if 1:1 or group.
Nurture Groups/Breakfast clubs.
The Anger Alphabet book.
Emotional intelligence.
Short courses on reducing anxiety done in groups rather than 1-1.
Group breakfast club, breaktime and lunch targeting different young people. Preparing for the day and any upcoming change.
