There are many positive effects associated with growing food locally, examples include:
- Increased access to seasonal, nutritious, climate and nature friendly foods
- Improved mental and physical wellbeing through activity in nature
- Engaged citizens connected to their local green spaces
- Opportunities for expertise, knowledge and skills sharing
- Formation of new connections and friendships

Bury's Right to Grow seeks to support community growing opportunities. This is based on the national Incredible Edible campaign. The following short film made by Incredible Edible Prestwich & District shares examples of what a growing opportunity could look like.

Please see the map (below) where you can view established community growing sites, and for the first time newly identified pre-approved sites (shown as yellow pins on the map). Zoom in and see what is available in your area. If you find a suitable growing site which is not yet listed, please email iepad.volunteers@gmail.com with the location and for supportive growing advice.
