Welcome! Please use the buttons below to find the information you need.

SENCO Best Practice

covers whole school approaches to inclusion, what we mean by a graduated approach, the SENCO role and SEND processes including EHC Needs Assessments and EHCP processes.

Graduated Approach (Areas of Need)

covers the four broad areas of need, and preparation for adulthood in Key Stages 3 and 4.  This includes ‘Top Tips’ for creating an inclusive learning environment, how to identify and assess needs, and recommended interventions and approaches (whole class, group and individual).

Getting Risk Support

children and young people with SEND may display risky behaviours and/or be more vulnerable to risk than the wider population. This section covers behaviours that may be harmful to themselves (e.g. self-harm, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders) or to others (e.g. distressed behaviours, inappropriate sexual behaviours, extremism).
