During the COVID-19 lockdown, our service is not seeing people in person, like many other services.

So, to accommodate the needs of people in experiencing mental health, we are making two significant changes during this period.

We are offering video support groups via Zoom. It’s really easy to use. You just need an internet connected device. Once you have downloaded the App, we do all the technical stuff.

We are running a phone support service. That means, we are ringing people up to check in with them, provide emotional support and signposting and referrals to other services when needed.

BIG in MENTAL HEALTH is a charity, run by people with their own experience of mental health problems. We provide a range free and open support groups for people experiencing mental health conditions within the community. Our service is open to anyone over the age of 18, from any area and requires no referral.

We have five support groups available, the Monday evening Anxiety and Depression Group, the Tuesday evening Recovery Group, the Friday midday Drop-In Group, and the Sunday midday Social Group. We also run a support group every Thursday at  Fairfield Hospital, open to patients on the Psychiatric Ward, Irwell Unit.

All of our groups in the community are friendly and supportive. No referrals. No waiting lists. Just turn up.

What people say:

“BIG is my lifeline. It is a place where I can feel safe. I can meet with people who understand how I feel, who do not judge me and make me feel accepted and valued. I have gained a lot of knowledge and made several friends attending BIG.”
