The Bury Jubilee O.P.C. was set up using funds from the Mayor of Bury’s Jubilee Trust and the Bury Ragged School’s Trust, Registered Charity No.512292. It was formally opened in 1984 and was extensively refurbished in 1996. The hostel is run by a voluntary management committee from Bury, Greater Manchester.

The hostel itself is located in the north-east Lake District. It is a well-equipped, centrally-heated hostel at Greenside, near Glenridding overlooking Ullswater, one of the longest lakes in the Lake District. The hostel is available for hire primarily by youth groups from Bury – but is available to all wishing to explore the Lake District. It is self-catering with a large modern kitchen, and has bunk beds for 28 people, with extra provision on the ground floor for 2 disabled persons.

The hostel is available to anyone, although priority is given to groups from Bury. The hostel is let on a sole use basis for weekends, weeks, or even on a daily basis – with preference given to weekly and weekend bookings.
