First Light project offers a film making course to the socially excluded, disabled, children and young people, and unemployed people living in the Borough's of Greater Manchester with the intention of bringing them together to share their social, physical, intellectual, cultural, emotional, economic and spiritual experiences with the wider community.
The practical course involves going out into the local community to make supervised short films, documentaries, television dramas etc. with view to educating, informing, and entertaining people in the Borough by having their programmes seen in local galleries and churches, festivals, and Internet Television which will help to improve self-esteem and confidence.
First Light Project will help people develop skills by using readily available resources such as internet, libraries etc. to enable them to continue to build on what they have gained from the project.
They will learn the crafts of:
- Using technical equipment
- Cinematography
- Storytelling
- Editing
- Team work and Role Allocation
- Health & Safety
