Manchester Camerata was formed in 1972, and is one of the UK’s top chamber orchestras. Alongside its programme of nearly 60 concerts each year, the orchestra’s award-winning Learning and Participation programme delivers life-changing work to over 10,000 people across the communities of the North West each year.

The Learning and Participation programme provides projects for schools, older people in the community, young people out of school, and early years and families.

Each programme places the participant at the centre of a creative experience, enabling them to lead and make changes to their life/experiences. Projects are most often developed with partner organisations and are evaluated through robust processes, including gathering participant feedback, quantitative and qualitative data.

Increasingly for projects with a health focus, we are working with Health Professionals and Academic Researchers to create a body of evidence for the efficacy of our approach in the arts and health sphere.

Manchester Camerata is a Bury Dementia Action Alliance member and is committed to improving the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.
