Membership and Governor Vacancies in Pennine Care

As a Foundation Trust, Pennine Care still remain part of the NHS. We provide services free at the point of delivery and continue to follow the principles and standards of the NHS.

The main difference is that foundation trusts are accountable to local people. By allowing people to have a voice, we are able to work with communities to develop services in a way that meets the needs of local people. Anyone who is interested in the NHS and wants to get involved are welcome to apply to become a member.

Members and governors are at the heart of our Trust’s accountability and governance structures and can become involved in numerous ways. Members elect governors to represent them on the Council of Governors and can stand to become governors themselves.

The governor role is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Trust and find out about services in your local area. The Council of Governors also ensures the views of local communities are considered in the development of health services.

Anyone can become a governor as long as they are a member of the Trust and over 16 years of age. You do not need to have any qualifications. Governors are generally local people who have an interest in healthcare and care about improving their local health services for the good of the whole community. Pennine Care equips governors with the skills they require to undertake the role. Training is available in-house via our membership team, and through a national programme.
