ALL ABOUT MY ENGLISH TEACHING

My personal style is supportive, encouraging and very positive! I can coach you in specific skills necessary for important exams, such as IELTS or the 'Cambridge' exams.

I provide lessons for Cambridge Examinations at the following levels:

KET (Key English Test) – is Cambridge ESOL’s exam which recognises the ability to deal with everyday written and spoken English at a basic level.

PET (Preliminary English Test) – is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoke English at an intermediate level.

FCE (First Certificate in English) – this exam is ideal for people who want to use English for work or study purposes. It is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level.

CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) – is an exam for advanced users of English. This exam is aimed at people who can use written and spoken English for most professional and social purposes.

CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) – is Cambridge ESOL’s most advanced exam. It is aimed at people who us English for professional or study purposes.

I can also coach you in crucial language skills for interviews, such as university entry or job candidacy.

I can help foreign students pass exams and achieve higher grades by professional proof-reading of their academic course work.

My teaching approach is based entirely around YOUR desires, needs and expectations. I focus on what YOU need and I let that guide what I teach and how I teach it.

I discover what you already know and understand, then I build from there using many different learning materials and activities.

I use an easy, communicative approach with clear, attainable goals for each lesson.

You can select the lesson topics you want from a very wide range; from more personalised things, such as everyday dialogues and common activities/situations to topics such as news stories, famous people, places, things etc.

Firstly, I will present the new material, we will practice it together and then finally you can perform the new language.

I will assess how well you did and give you positive feedback, any constructive criticisms i.e. in what things you might improve and how, and I will give you lots of encouragement.

We can focus on a particular skill that you need to develop more than others, for example writing or pronunciation, or presentation skills.

Learning should be mostly fun, so, if desired, I will keep grammar down to a minimum and I will always encourage you to do as much speaking as possible.

You can ask as many questions as you wish, as these help us both!

Whatever your level, age, nationality, I will do my best to help develop your English skills while making it fun, interesting but very rewarding for you.

Lessons can be taken:

In my home in Whitefield, M45, Greater Manchester
In Manchester city centre at 'Central Library', or in a cafe (if not too noisy!)
via Skype, if you live too far away

Please call or email Chris for further information. A list of the various rates will be sent by email on request and there are often special offers.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you improve your English!
