Oakdene is a vibrant day centre, supporting young people who have a Learning Disability (aged 18 to 45) providing a friendly, welcoming and stimulating environment. We have an excellent reputation for delivering an innovative, responsive and flexible service, which enables people we support to have greater choice and say over how they spend their day. We support people across the whole spectrum of learning disabilities: complex health needs; people who have autism; people who challenge services; and those people with complex physical disabilities. We focus on positive outcomes for everyone and recognise the significance of friendships, relationships and support needed to overcome any barriers to inclusion.

Oakdene provides a safe and caring environment, enabling families and carers to continue with employment or take a much deserved break from their caring role.
We have a varied programme of activities each day within Oakdene, including music, sensory programmes including Bag Books (multi sensory story telling sessions), art projects and independent life skills training. Further afield, we enjoy daily outings to local places of interest, Wheels for All cycling, drama groups, museums, swimming, local libraries and parks and the Factory Zone.

Our emphasis is to take a therapeutic approach towards support, and to strengthen this approach we employ a Physiotherapist, an Occupational Therapist, have a sensory room and our own hydrotherapy pool. We provide personal care with a fully adapted bathroom, including tracking hoists and individual bathroom support plans.

Our individual support plans ensure that everyone is valued and can make a positive contribution. We work to achieve and celebrate everyone's unique gifts, skills and talents. We pride ourselves on our relationships with parents and carers and work in collaboration with them, as well as clinical and Social Care professionals, to support people to be the best that they can be.
