We are looking for Volunteers in Policing. We have two voluntary roles:

Special Constables are a vital part of the police service, helping to prevent crime and interacting with the diverse communities we serve.

They are volunteer police officers with full police powers. They:

  • Assist with local police initiatives
  • Assist regular police officers
  • Increase visibility and public reassurance
  • They also take part in:
  • crime reduction initiatives
  • community partnership projects

You will undertake a training programme before going on patrol in company with a regular officer or senior special constable.

We are looking for Police Support Volunteers to undertake the following roles:

  • Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders
  • Scambusters (Fraud prevention)
  • Cyber/Digital Volunteers
  • Metal Detectorists
  • Roads Policing Volunteers (Road Safety Awareness)
  • Gardener
