We all want our children to have a large and varied vocabulary but it can be tricky to know how to support them with this. We know that it's not just about the number of words we say to our children but rather the types of words we use. We also want to support vocabulary during our natural interactions when we are sending messages back and forth e.g. when a child says "look a caravan" we can respond by adding extra words "oh yes, it's a large/dirty/new caravan".
Some children also have difficulties finding the words they want to say even when they understand them well. There are lots of things you can do to support your child when this happens.
