This resource was developed by the Educational Psychology Service and Inclusion Service in partnership with parents and carers, schools, settings and services. Young people have also shared their views about their experiences and helped to shape the development of resources for children and young people.

We aspired to develop a resource that raises the standards of education and support for children/young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) through the sharing of best practice and known evidence and practice- based interventions. It has been a pleasure to hear about all the amazing work that happens across Bury’s network of early years settings, schools and colleges. Contributors have been generous with their ideas and reflections and have challenged thinking to champion high standards for SEND families. This toolkit aims to support excellent practice across all educational settings, to promote positive outcomes for children and young people.

Bury Educational Psychology and Inclusion Services would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the following people and services for contributing to this project and helping to co-produce this resource.

  • Parents, Carers & Young People

  • Staff in Early Years Settings, Schools and Colleges in Bury who worked on specific sections of the toolkit

  • Bury Local Authority Staff, Health Colleagues and Partner Services
