For adults with aphasia. This condition is a complex communication difficulty. It can happen after stroke, tumour or head injury. Speakeasy is a local registered charity based in Ramsbottom, Bury but also reaching out to people across the North West offering a wide range of bespoke, therapeutic and purposeful activities for people with aphasia.

Aphasia is a a complex and highly misunderstood acquired communication difficulty. It can happen after a stroke or other type of damage to the parts of the brain involved with language. People who have aphasia may find it difficult to use and understand speech, to read and write. They experience exclusion from community activity including many disability initiatives.

We provide the following services; Support for people when they need it and for as long as they want it, Support for families and carers of people with aphasia, Activities to improve communication, Build confidence and a range of other skills, Specialist aphasia computer work and Counselling.

Speakeasy also offers training to help improve communication exchanges for people who have communication challenges.
