How do I get urgent mental health help?

Emergencies

If you need immediate help, you can go to:

  • Emergency services: For those in immediate danger or an acute emergency ask for the ambulance service or the police. Call 999
  • Accident and Emergency: For those in immediate danger or in crisis. Go to Accident and Emergency, Fairfield General Hospital, Bury
  • Samaritans: Operates a service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for people who want to talk in confidence. Call 116123
  • Bury Getting Helpline: Provides a confidential telephone service run by the voluntary sector for people of all ages who are experiencing difficulties with their mental wellbeing. Call 0161 464 3679 Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm or visit the Getting Helpline website.
  • Urgent care: If you, a family member or friend require urgent care but it is not life threatening, you could call NHS 111. Call 111
  • SANE: Runs an out of hours helpline every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm. Call 0845 767 8000
